Objective 1: Reading: Criterion Reference Competency Test (CRCT)

Expectation: by 2008-2009,

• 99 % of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for Reading as tested by the CRCT as gateway to the next grades. At least 30% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for more than one year will exceed the standards in Reading as measured by the CRCT.

Expectation: by 2009-2010,

• 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for Reading as tested by the CRCT as gateway to the next grades. At least 35% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will exceed the standards in Reading as measured by the CRCT.

Expectation: by 2010-2011,

• At least 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will exceed the grade level standards for Reading as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 50% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for two consecutive years will exceed the standards in Reading as measured by the CRCT.

Objective 2: Mathematics: Criterion Reference Competency Test (CRCT)

Expectation: by 2008-2009,

• At least 99% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for Mathematics as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 30% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will exceed the standards in Mathematics as measured by the CRCT.

Expectation: by 2009-2010,

• At least 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for Mathematics as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 40% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will exceed the standards in Mathematics as measured by the CRCT.

Expectation: by 2010-2011,

• At least 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for Mathematics as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 50% of students in other grades 1-7, who have attended the Charter School for two consecutive years, will exceed the Standards in Mathematics, as measured by the CRCT.

Objective 3: English/Language Arts: Criterion Reference Competency Test (CRCT)

Expectation: by 2008-2009,

• At least 99% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for English/Language Arts as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 30% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will exceed the standards in English/Language Arts as measured by the CRCT.

Expectation: by 2009-2010,

• At least 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for English/Language Arts as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 35% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will exceed the standards in English/Language Arts as measured by the CRCT.

Objective 4: Science: Criterion Reference Competency Test (CRCT)

Expectation: by 2008-2009,

• At least 99% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for Science as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 30% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will exceed the standards in Science as measured by the CRCT.

• At least 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for Science as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 40% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will exceed the standards in Science as measured by the CRCT.

• At least 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 who have attended the Charter School for two consecutive years will meet or exceed the standards in Science, as measured by the CRCT. 50% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will meet or exceed the standards in Science as measured by the CRCT.

Objective 5: Social Studies: Criterion Reference Competency Test (CRCT)

Expectation: by 2008-2009,

• At least 99% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards in Social Studies as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. At least 75% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will exceed the standards in Mathematics as measured by the CRCT.

Expectation: by 2009-2010,

• At least 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will meet the grade level standards for Social Studies as tested by the CRCT as a gateway to the next grades. 90% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for one year will meet or exceed the standards in Social Studies as measured by the CRCT.

Expectation: by 2010-2011,

• At least 100% of a cohort group of students in grades 3 and 5 will have attended the Charter School for two consecutive years will meet or exceed the standards in Social Studies, as measured by the CRCT. 95% of students in other grades from 1-7 who have attended the Charter School for two consecutive years will meet or exceed the standards in Social Studies as measured by the CRCT.

Objective 6: End of the Course Test (EOCT)

Expectation: by 2007-2008,

• At least 97% of the students in grade 7 will earn sufficient EOCT scores plus course grades to receive course credits for graduation.

Objective 7: Writing: Georgia Writing Assessment (GWA)

Expectation: Spring 2009,

• 97% of the students will perform at grade level, or above.

Objective 8: Criterion Kindergarten Assessment Program (GKAP)

Expectation: by 2009,

• At least 97% of the kindergarten students will perform at grade level, or above.

Objective 9: Technological and Environmental Curriculum

In addition to the specific objectives set forth within the curriculum itself, the School provides the following explanation of its curriculum: The central premise underlying this School is that environmental issues inherently intrigue children in a manner which is more interesting to them than traditional curriculum coursework. Thus a heavy emphasis will be placed upon getting out of a traditional classroom and studying a variety of environments as they actually exist: from trees and puddles in the playground to the Soapstone and monadnock granite formations throughout the County.

Expectation: By 2008-2009,

35% of the technological and environmental curriculum will relate to issues unique to South DeKalb County.

Objective 10: Role of Staff

Classroom lectures was the exception, not the norm. Interactive, Socratic methods will be used to the fullest extent possible. Lesson plans were required, but depending on topic may cover several weeks at a time. Preparation of lesson plans will be monitored/verified by the Principal and submitted to the Local Board upon request.

Expectation: By 2009-2010 and on an on-going basis, the rate of teacher daily

attendance shall meet or exceed that of the DeKalb County School System.

Expectation: By 2009-2010 and on an on-going basis, teacher training requirements will

be met or exceeded.

Expectation: By 2009-2010 and each year thereafter, teacher-generated lesson plans will

be posted on Georgia Learning Centers’ website as acceptable means of complying with

GQCC.

Expectation: By 2008-2009, 75% of the environmental/technological lesson plans will

have been generated by the teachers themselves.

Expectation: By 2009-2010, 100% of the environmental/technological lesson plans will

have been generated by the teachers themselves.

Objective 11: Implementation of Curriculum

The Academy will infuse an environmental and technological theme. Infusion will continue as the school does, and the following are the goals for such infusion:

Expectation: By the 2008-2009 school year, 100% of all lesson plans used in core

curriculum subjects of Language Arts, Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science and

Social Studies will involve an environmental/technological theme. At least 40% of all

lesson plans in other courses will use such themes.

Expectation: By the 2008-2009 school year, at least 50% of all lesson plans in other

courses will use such themes.

Expectation: By the 2009-2010 school year, at least 75% of all lesson plans in other

courses will use such themes.

Expectation: By the 2008-2009 school -ear, students will demonstrate their enthusiasm

and interest in the curriculum by achieving an Avg. grade of 85 or better on a grade-appropriate teacher-constructed test of basic environmental and technological concepts and vocabulary.

Expectation: By the 2009-2010 school year, students will demonstrate their enthusiasm

and interest in the curriculum by achieving an Avg. grade of 90% or better on a grade appropriate teacher-constructed test of basic environmental and technological concepts

and vocabulary.

Expectation: By the 2010-2011 school year, students will demonstrate their enthusiasm

and interest in the curriculum by achieving an Avg. grade of 95% or better on a grade appropriate teacher-constructed test of basic environmental and technological concepts

and vocabulary.

Expectation: By spring of 2008-2009, student daily attendance shall be 97% or better.

Expectation: Student promotion rate from year to year shall be 90% or better.

Objective 12: Technological Proficiency

Expectation: By the 2008-2009 school year, each classroom will contain two state-of-the art computers for student use; and a computer lab will be created with at least 30

computers.

Expectation: By the 2009-2010 school year, each classroom will contain at least three

computers for student use; and the computer lab will contain at least 40 computers.

Expectation: 2010-2011 – Lab will contain at least 60 computers.

Expectation: From kindergarten on, students will begin using technology in day-to-day tasks; from basic measuring devices to computers, robotics and electronics.

Objective 13 Environmental Project

Expectation: 100% of all students will produce at least three grade-appropriate projects:

one developed, monitored and presented by the class as a whole; one developed,

monitored and presented by small groups or pairs; and one developed, monitored and

presented individually. At least one of these projects (or their results) will be presented

in display form at the Earth Day Celebration.

Objective 14: Extra Curricular Activities

Expectation: 100% of all students will actively participate and engage in the following five extra-curricular activities through the entire year: Spanish, Music, Physical Education, Art, and Technology. Students will be evaluated based on their performance and participation. In addition, subject integration will be implemented with classroom and homeroom objectives/skills that are aligned to GPS and QCC standards.
