Learning with Relationships, Relevance, and Rigor

The target population of the school is those students who live in DeKalb County.

  • Equal access will be given to all students while complying with all civil rights laws as they pertain to student admissions.
  • Beginning 2005-2006 the anticipated student enrollment is 300
  • For 2006-2007 the anticipated number is 450
  • For 2007-2008 the number is 600
  • Students must complete and return an application within the time period specified for enrollment by the Board of Directors.
  • The Charter School shall enroll any student who resides in the Local Board’s School District and who submits a timely application, unless the Charter School has more applicants than available slots in the appropriate class or grade level. In that event, students will be admitted through a random selection lottery process, except that preference shall be given to siblings of resident students currently enrolled in the Charter School.
  • After the student has been enrolled at the Charter School, he/she will be permitted to enroll in succeeding school years as long as: (1) appropriate grade levels are offered at the Charter School, (2) the student and parents express a continued interest in the curriculum offered; and (3) the student reapplies during open registration.
  • The attendance zone for the Charter School shall be the entire area of DeKalb County, which currently is served by the DeKalb County School District.
  • If openings remain after the official enrollment period, then students will be admitted on a first come, first-serve basis throughout the school year. If openings do not exist for the desired grade levels, then applicants will be placed on a waiting list in the order in which they applied, i.e., on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • A student may withdraw without penalty from the Charter School at any time and enroll in a local school in the DeKalb school system, or in a school in the system in which the student resides, pursuant to the rules and regulations of that school system.
